Cosmetic Dentistry
We offer a range of cosmetic treatments to help you achieve a beautiful smile.
Whitening
Discoloured or darkened teeth can be lightened with professional tooth bleaching agent. At St Kilda Smiles, we offer two types of whitening:
1) In-chair whitening, where our dentist applies high concentration whitening agent onto your teeth. Your lips and gums are protected by a rubber isolation barrier and resin seal. This whitening process is typically completed in a single session.
2) At-home whitening where tooth whitening agent is applied onto teeth with customised plastic trays that are moulded to fit your teeth. The process typically takes two weeks of nightly use at home.
Both methods are effective, and after treatment, you should notice a significant difference in the brightness of your teeth. Note that tooth whitening may not be suitable for some types of discolouration and should only be done under the guidance of your dentist.
Veneers
A veneer is a thin shell of porcelain or resin that is bonded to the front of a tooth. Veneers can be used address a number of concerns including teeth that are discoloured, chipped, broken or smaller-than-normal. At St Kilda Smiles, we offer two types of veneers:
1) Resin composite veneers, which involves the placement of direct filling material onto teeth. These are placed in a single appointment.
2) Porcelain veneers, which are created by one of our trusted labs, and tend to last longer than resin. During the first appointment, a very thin, outer layer of tooth is removed, a mould is taken, which is then sent to our labs. During the second appointment, the veneers are fitted and bonded onto your teeth.
We recommend discussing with our dentist which option is most suitable for you.
Invisalign
We offer Invisalign Clear Aligner Therapy, which is a set of customised clear retainers that gradually move your teeth into a straightened position. These are a cosmetic-friendly alternative to traditional braces and work well in many patients.
